You've sent your application, including portfolio, and now it's waiting for a reply. There! You've got an email back, and you've been invited for an interview. Yes!

And now?

Before your interview, or rather, before you apply at all, think about what you are looking for.

Don't know where to start? Then read the article: 4 tips on how to score your internship at a design agency.

What kind of position are you looking for?

When you apply for a specific vacancy, you already know what we are looking for. If you are sending an open application, be sure to check out our 'About us' page to see what kind of positions we have in store.

You are fine applying for a role as a UX/UI designer with a good story, but do realise that these roles are separate at Concept7. This is different for internships, where you can do both roles. Indeed, that is the broad training you get with us.

What are your ambitions? What do you want to grow towards?

It's good for yourself anyway to have a picture of your future. We can't fill that in for you. What do you see yourself doing? How do you want to do it? What do you have to offer us and why should we absolutely not let you go? It is nice if you have an idea of this, so that we can more easily weigh up whether it fits within our organisation.

Graduate? What kind of assignment would you like to do?

We know that you need to do a certain graduation assignment from your studies. We don't always have a ready-made assignment on the shelf. It helps us if you have an idea of what kind of assignment you want to do. For example, will you be happy with a project for our company itself or something for a customer?

What do you need from us to make your graduation a success? We see that students often get higher grades when they complete a project they are truly 100% behind. We can think with you more easily if you have a battle plan.

Tips for during the interview

Ok, some job interview tips are real no-brainers, but better safe than sorry!

  • Come on time.

  • Be yourself, super neat or fancy is really not necessary. Just make sure that you look groomed.

  • Take your own laptop with you.

  • Take the questions you have prepared.

  • Let's also talk about who you are outside work (What are your hobbies? Do you do sports?).

  • Stay open to feedback on your portfolio, after all, you are here to take the next step and learn more.

  • Please ask questions in return, that way you come across as much more proactive.

  • Don't be afraid to voice your opinion.

  • Do you really want to make yourself immortal? Bring something that reminds us of you. The power of syrup waffles is immense!

Whether you come for an internship interview, a graduation project or your first real job: we see the interview as a real job interview. We are looking at whether you can join our team, in whatever role. So take the interview as seriously as we do.
