MVO Nederland Redesign website

To build a sustainable economy, the current economic system needs a fundamental overhaul — and MVO Nederland has been working hard on this since 2004.

MVO Nederland encourages and supports companies in contributing to a sustainable future for both nature and society. At the same time, they urge the government to make sustainable entrepreneurship the norm.

With a website redesign, we’re giving this mission a powerful digital boost.

The Challenge

MVO Nederland’s digital presence was ready for a refresh. Founded in 2004 to promote knowledge and awareness of corporate social responsibility (CSR) among businesses, MVO Nederland has come a long way. Twenty years later, knowledge and information are no longer the main challenge — they’re widely available. MVO Nederland has evolved into a sustainable business network and a driving force for system change. The new website needed to reflect this updated role and actively inspire visitors to help build a sustainable economy.

Our assignment was to redesign and rebuild the main website, using a modular system as the foundation — making it easy to create new pages and spin off additional websites. The site also had to be aligned with the refreshed brand identity. And of course, user experience optimization was a key focus.

Fun fact: this was the 11th MVO project we’ve worked on at Concept7! 🎉

The Starterkit

For MVO Nederland, we developed a design system (The Starter Kit) essentially a toolbox of building blocks for creating websites.

With this Starter Kit, MVO Nederland can quickly and easily launch new sites for all their projects and initiatives, while ensuring consistent branding across the board.

The Starter Kit enables us to quickly deliver new project websites that are fully aligned with our branding and communication goals.

What was already in place?

Back in 2019, we already gave MVO Nederland’s website a major overhaul. Based on the research results at the time, we laid the foundation for the site: making the impact of corporate social responsibility tangible and visible, and highlighting MVO Nederland’s role and added value.

To ensure visitors wouldn’t get lost on the site, we co-created the information architecture with MVO Nederland. What’s the overall structure of the site? What belongs in the main navigation? What goes into subnavigation and footers? And how do users move through the site?

Conversion-focused redesign

Building on our long-standing collaboration with MVO Nederland and the previously developed website, we were able to leverage earlier research and insights.
We organized both an internal stakeholder session and a user session to redefine the goals, functionalities, and branding.

This led to the development of a new design, based on:

To ensure search visibility and conversion focus, an SEO and CRO check was performed on the design.

The result is a website that is not only visually appealing, but also highly functional, with a strong focus on conversion-driven landing pages and dynamic content that communicates the added value of MVO Nederland’s business network. A website that aligns seamlessly with all other MVO platforms.

The current projects in which MVO Nederland collaborates with businesses are also linked to the seven sustainability themes of the New Economy Index (NEx).

From a technical perspective, we migrated the site to Laravel combined with the Statamic CMS, making content page management more flexible and user-friendly. We also integrated HubSpot as the CRM system for connected partners.

What are the results of the redesign?

  • Consistent messaging and branding: Thanks to the Starter Kit, MVO Nederland can communicate their identity consistently across all platforms.

  • User-centered design: The site is now not just an information source, but also a call to action — focused on doing and getting involved.

  • Technical innovation: With Laravel and Statamic, the site is future-proof, easy to adapt, and maintenance-friendly.
