From toys to Pligo: rebranding for a toy rental platform

How do you get children to play at a time when they sometimes seem to be sucked in to a screen? Pligo's toy subscription makes playing with real toys exciting again! Pligo's open-ended toys provide endless entertainment and promote children's development. Through toy rental, Pligo contributes to a more sustainable planet at the same time.

The challenge

At Concept7, we believe in a world where children develop optimally through play. That's why we were excited when Pligo (formerly known as Speeltegoed) knocked on our door with a great challenge: their toy subscriptions needed to be not only accessible, but also enjoyable for host parents, parents and nurseries. Moreover, the original brand name felt too literal and restrictive. Time for a rebrand.

The result is a beautifully revamped website where every family can easily find and rent the perfect toy, with a new name that emphasises the power and fun of play!

Rebranding from Speeltegoed to Pligo

At Pligo, you can hire open ended toys for children aged 0 to 6 years. Every parent knows that this age group brings its own unique challenges, busyness, but above all fun. After all, with kids, no day is boring. 

This concept idea is reflected in the basis of every element, from the new name to the complete corporate identity. These elements reflect exactly what it means to be a child. The style is engaging, entertaining and playful. Because it is precisely that playing children discover, fall and get up again that we should celebrate. Celebrate with toys that take them on an endless journey of discovery. 

The name Pligo means more than meets the eye. It is a playful combination: the soft sound "Pli" conveys a sense of friendliness and accessibility and encourages action, the "GO!" encourages adventure and discovery. After all, Pligo is all about building and discovering for yourself. Making mistakes and getting back up again is an essential part of the learning process, along with carefully selected toys.

Playfulness in every element of the house style

Making beautiful toys available to as many children as possible. With this inspiring mission comes playful branding. The feel of Pligo is reflected in every corporate identity element. The colours are derived from the old palette to maintain the brand's recognisability. In this way, we created a visual identity that is accessible to everyone. Pligo's new brand identity is characterised by a few core aspects that make it unique:

  • Playful Font: This element emphasises the joy, imagination and childlike feeling, bringing out the essence of Pligo.

  • Attractive Copy: By making the childlike experience visible, Pligo becomes an accessible brand for a wide audience.

  • Visual Consistency: This consistency contributes to Pligo's strong brand identity and helps the brand stand out from the competition.

Getting started yourself with brandbook and templates

We chose photography of real situations in which children play with beautiful toys. This way, we reinforce the tangibility of the product. The combination of the colours, font and photography creates powerful branding that is distinctive and leaves a lasting impression.

Thanks to the brand book and various templates, Pligo can now and in the future work on their own. The concise and powerful message drafted together with Pligo ensures recognisable and consistent communications across all their different channels.

Pligo's user-friendly interface

To provide an enjoyable and seamless user experience, we developed a sophisticated front- and back-end for Pligo. This is because Pligo offers a unique service where customers can choose from different change terms and credits for choosing toys. The combination of different exchange terms and the wide range of toys makes the product complex. Thanks to a user-friendly account environment, customers can now switch effortlessly, allowing Pligo to keep an overview.

A tailor-made MyEnvironment

Working closely with Pligo, Concept7 optimised the entire flow and systems. The result is a customised, newly designed system that perfectly suits Pligo's needs. No existing system exactly matched the customer's needs and requirements, so Concept7 used expertise and creativity to build a new system from scratch. The result? A new MyEnvironment with functions such as user registration, stock management and payment processing. This allows Pligo to achieve all its ambitions and goals!
