Our collaboration with Ziengs resulted in a future proof e-commerce platform that not only strengthens the brand’s online presence but also significantly boosts conversions.
Ziengs is there for the whole family, from young to old. With personal advice and a tailored selection, Ziengs ensures your shoes fit your feet, your style, and every occasion perfectly. For over 75 years, this family-owned business has been an expert in fit, soles, shoe care, and style. A shoe store with an eye for people.
Ziengs recently introduced a rebranding and a new store concept focused on the customer and the shoes. Naturally, the webshop had to follow suit. The goal: a strong online presence with a modern, future-ready webshop.
Our challenge was to enhance the omnichannel strategy by boosting online sales in a way that supports the physical stores, while staying true to Ziengs’ core values: service, quality, and loyalty.

Putting the user at the center
Our user research, based on interviews showed that Ziengs customers want to quickly find what they’re looking for and place their orders with ease. Ziengs is already perceived as a trustworthy brand, mainly due to its high quality. However, there are areas for improvement on the webshop, particularly in terms of inspiration and sizing information. Whether a shoe runs large or small was mainly found in the review
Using Google Analytics, we dive deep into the performance of the Ziengs website. We track visitor flows, traffic sources, and user behavior. Search data, for example, revealed that many visitors search by brand. We translate these insights directly into user experience optimizations. As a result, we gave brands a more prominent place on the homepage to better align with visitors’ search behavior.
Through various sessions, we gained an Detailed understanding of the Ziengs brand. We developed deeper insights into the new visual identity, current website users, and Ziengs’ services and organizational structure. Using this information, along with findings from the research phase, we developed personas that map out the specific characteristics and behaviors of different user profiles.
Next, we created a customer journey, mapping out all the touchpoints and analyzing the full user flow. This allowed us to identify crucial pain points and opportunities for improvement..
With these insights, we started designing the initial wireframes, applying a mobile-first approach to ensure an optimal user experience on mobile devices. In the UX-ontwerp we took into account the need for more space for inspiration, tailored advice, upselling, and alignment with the physical stores. Throughout the wireframing process, we went through multiple iterations, continuously gathering feedback and implementing changes to optimize the design.
At the same time, we worked on translating the new branding into a digital application. We ensured that Ziengs’ new visual identity was applied consistently throughout the digital design.
After several iterations of the wireframes, we moved on to the visual design phase. In this phase, we fully applied the new Ziengs branding to the designs for the new website, creating a fashionable appearance with a minimalist and stylish look and feel.
Through A/B testing, we made data-driven decisions that gradually made the webshop more conversion-focused. In addition, we provided training sessions to encourage an experimental mindset within the team.
